Well, I realize it's been a while since I've written on here so I thought I'd throw out a quick update of everything that's happened since June this last year.

Sophie- She turned 2 in September, we had a nice party outside in our front yard with family. Sophie has become "miss "I do it myself." This equals out to, some of her clothes getting put on inside out and backwards, but usually she gets it right. Most of the time she has to open doors herself, close doors and open the fridge. She is just so independant. She is mommy's little helper. She is always right next to me when I do laundry, she helps put clothes in the wash, helps stuff clothes in the dryer, close the door and helps carry laundry out for me to fold it. She even puts her clothes away. Now, .. not all clothes make it back to where they are suppose to go, but it still helps out a lot. She loves when I clip her nails (weird how she used to hate it when she was an infant), she loves when I put her hair up. I'll ask her to go get a clip and hair tie and she goes to her room, gets them and comes to sit on my lap. She likes to have her hair put up, it's very cute. She loves to wear her tutu around the house, well both of them actually. She calls them her tutoots. Recently she has discovered how to take her clothes off. Oh boy.... One night Clinton and I were sitting on the couch talking about how we wish we could be given all of our children at the age of 2 (forget the baby stage). We both agreed we could handle four kids if they came to us that way :) Just as that moment Sophie turned the corner butt naked dancing in circles. Clinton looked at me and said, "let's make that 3...." She is so much fun; I just love this age :) All morning she's been saying to me "you stinker" when we've been playing. It's funny hearing her say it to me.. her mommy.

Clinton- As for Clinton.... he tore his PCL, which is his posterior cruciate ligament on the backside of his knee. He did this playing softball,.. sliding into 3rd apparently. This happened in June I believe. Anyways, he hadsurgery in Mid- October. The surgery went better than the doctor expected. His rehab time ended up being cut in half from 3 months to 6 weeks because he achieve all his physical therapy goals early. He still has some knee pain but it comes and goes. Clinton also went ahead and bought himself a brand new snowmobile. I have no idea what kind it is so don't ask. I just know that I have leverage on him for the next five years. Meaning... any purchase I make he can't argue with :)

As for me- We are pregnant again due June 24th. This would put me at 16 weeks now. Everything seems to be going ok. The baby is measuring about a week ahead (head to rump measurement) as of 4 weeks ago. I'm just starting to feel the baby move now. I felt it at 14.5 weeks with Sophie but my placenta was posterior with her. In this pregnancy the placenta has moved from fundal (top) to anterior (front). They said it will take longer to feel movement because of that. I have a gut feel it's a boy but I don't really have much to back myself up on. I feel generally the same as I did with Sophie (in regards to pregnancy symptoms). I'm not showing anyfaster with this one as with the last. The only difference is that my belly seems lower and pointier (if that makes sense) maybe my ligaments are so loosened up already they just gave out and they let the baby sag more... jk. I wouldn't say I have any cravings either yet. I do however get hungry for real meals vs. sweets. That doesn't stop me from eating sweets but I just don't care for them quite as much as I did with Sophie or even probably less that I do not pregnant. My morning sickness has tapered off now. I thought it was gone a couple weeks back but the holidays and family visiting really threw off my sleep schedule which makes me sick. So I went one week without puking and then I puked 3 more times in one weeks just from not going to bed on time.
- As for school, I finished the LPN program and started up the RN program pretty much instantaneously. Three weeks into the program I passed my LPN boards on the first try. I was very happy, and relieved. I passed the first of two semesters of the RN program and I just waiting to start my last semester next week. I made it through three semesters (and a summer semester) with a 4.0 gpa. I'm very happy about that. Hopefully I can keep it up for one more semester. It may help me get into another program if I choose to go back and get a 4 year degree. Right now I'm leaning towards going to Winona State. That is if I ever go back. If I do... I'm bound and determined that I will have my employer pay for me to go back :) Let's hope they offer that to me where ever I get a job. My career interests still lie in obstetrics mostly particularly nursing care related to conception/fertility. I would maybe even be interested in becoming a lactation consultant. I may look more into that this summer when I'm at home with baby. I'm also interested in Endocrinology such as diabetes. My instructor at school says she thinks I would make an excellent Diabetes Educator. That would be an interesting job. Nursing is such a great field to go into considering there are so many different avenues you can take....Well, that is going to be it for an update. I have been slacking on taking pictures so I won't be leaving you with any. Sorry. You know what we look like anyways right?! :)

Nothing too new here. Sophie will be 2 in 2months. Seems crazy but we love watching her grow up. She's a great joy! Puzzles, strawberry shortcake movies, being outside, eating and playing w/ animals occupies the majority of her time. She's starting to talk more, we're are still only putting 2-3 words together but she's improving everyday. She loves playing w/ all of her cousins and seems to enjoy daycare as well. Sophie has yet to meet two of her baby cousins Brielle and Ethan who live in Arizona w/ my sister Kim and her husband Steve. They are such pretty babies and I can't wait to meet them.

Clinton has been busy as usual. He was playing softball 2 nights a week until 3 weeks back when he injured his knee sliding into 3 rd base. Well, after seeing 3 doctors- he has a torn PCL which runs on the backside of the knee. After seeing a specialist they fit him w/ an awesome knee brace that has made a world of a difference. He will start to see a physical therapist 2-3 times a week starting soon; we have yet to set it up. They gave him a 5% chance it will heal on it's own w/ some grueling rehab- otherwise it's surgery. They expect to give rehab 1 full month before deciding if surgery is necessary. So all in all Clinton is down to watching softball 1 night a week. Though he is home more now,... he seems to be much less useful :/ he's been enjoying the babying though.

As for me, School is almost over for the LPN program and I will start the RN program in August. Just around that time I will be set to take boards for my LPN, so hopefully all goes well by then. Assuming all goes well and as planned I will have my associated degree in Nursing (RN) in May. As for the LPN program, I have 2 more clinicals at the hospital and one "specialty" day in Pediatrics. My last 2 weeks of the program will be in internship. I requested OB clinic at the hospital for it and got it. I'm very happy w/ that. Maybe they'll hire me after I'm done... doubt it but I can hope...

5 mins ago Sophie took her first Steps... 3 to the mirror and to see if she'd walk back to me.. and sure enough she did!! Yay, I'll have good news to tell the doctor at her 1 year appt. today!! We officially have a toddler, and I'm so excited. On to the next step!

The Past Few Months

I havent' updated for a while, so sorry guys. Well we've just been enjoying the summer so far. I've been trying to get everything prepared to start LPN school August 26th, I have a first aid class next week and after that I should be set to go besides buying books, and other necessities required to be in Clinicals. Sophie has childcare lined up to start, so hopefully she adapts well. It's crazy to think that in just a few short weeks Sophie will be 1, I'll discontinue nursing her, I'll be in school and she'll be off to daycare part-time. This coming fall will definately be an adjustment for our little family.

As for Sophie, She's just been becoming a little person who jabbers and has lot's of personality. She however has made no progress in learning to walk. She's over cautious and is very comfortable just crawling everywhere. So, like me, I think she will also be a late walker. She must not have her dad's sense of fearlessness :) She can stand there without holding on as long as she has something in front of her to grab onto as needed. Sophie says mama often and pretty well and has been now for over a month. She will sporatically use some other "words" too. I've heard her say hi a few times, cat, and she'll say "git" for when she wants me to "git" her out of the tub. That was kinda cute. Sophie can also Dada but she doesn't always use it for Daddy, sometimes she just likes to say it. She's become and avid stair climber whether or not we appreciate it at this time. She giggles and plays hide and seek with mom, and is still by far a MOMMAS GIRL.. hands down. But she loves her daddy too. In the next couple weeks I'm going to make an appt. to get her dark ends cut off before her first birthday party. I've been planning it for a while. It's pink/gold elephant themed. This will also be her golden birthday so.. hence the gold. I 'm working on elephant invites and an elephant pinjata (sp?) I also have a rocking animal. It's a cuddly soft stuffed elephant that's like a rocking horse and plays music. I'm so excited for her to play with it. It will match her room I'm thinking.

Well as for Clinton, he's been enjoying driving truck for the dairy and playing softball for two seperate teams. He plays in Cannon and in Hastings. Clinton had an undefeated team until the last game last night when they lost by one :) bummer. I think the hastings team was maybe undefeated too, but I'm not sure. Clinton's friend from H.S was married in June and we all drove out to Pierre SD for that. It was a great time and Sophie really enjoyed the pool.. Nate and Alice are also Sophies God parents so hopefully the pictures we took will be nice for her to look at when she is older.. I'll post some pics of that too.

Clinton took and afternoon off from the farm and the three of us went to the zoo then to Buff. wild wings afterwards. Sophie seems to enjoy lookihjng at all the animals. She kept pulling herself forward as far as she could go to see the animals. I didn't want to upload a lot of pictures but you get the point. The last exhibit Sophie fell asleep. The fun day really wore her out.

Well This past month Sophie is pretty much just growing into a little girl. No new skills really, just improving her already accomplished ones. She can stand up and get down faster everyday. She likes to play peekaboo atleast once a day especially on days I do laundry. She uses clothing to hide under. She loves looking through her books and now I think she's starting to pretend she's reading them. She'll flare her arms around and make noise as she looks and turns the pages. She gets kinda noisy sometimes. She's learning more and more everyday to walk around furniture. Standing is her favorite. Whenever I'm cooking in the kitchen at some point Sophie will crawl over and use my leg to stand and clutch me, arms wrapped around tight and she'll cry out for me to pick her up. Just this morning I helped her get up and balanced to her walker and off she went. She was great. The more we encouraged her the more she seemed to enjoy it. I'm excited for her 9 month checkup on thursday. Here are a few pictures that I took this past week.

It's funny how all I really have to say is about Sophie. But I suppose that is how every new parent is.

Clinton and I have been going to "Parenting Class" at our church every 2nd and 4th monday nights every month. I believe they have had two so far and Clinton and I went to both. We have enjoyed going because we get to spent time with other parents and it's interesting how alike some parents think. With so many things to worry about when trying to raise a child "right," it's nice to know other parents share the same concerns as we do. I know Sophie is only 7.5 months old but we're talking future things to be worried about I guess. Clinton and I have been trying to go to church atleast every other weekend. It's nice to get Sophie out and exposed to church and other people. I'm already excited for sunday school for her. It's nice knowing the kids who will be in her class and being able to watch them grow up.

Now as for just Sophie, she has been changing so much lately. I'm really starting to notice how much of a little girl she has become. She interacts with me all the time. It seems we have our own lingo. She has started to be able to feed herself. A month ago I tried giving her some crunchy stars and she did not like it one bit. Now I just tried again and she took to it just great. She'll have her tray cleaned in no time. Next week I might try some other soft cut up veggies... we'll see though. I've really been enjoying making baby food too. There are so many foods out there that I want to expose her too that they don't have in the store, not to mention saving some money. That's always a bonus. Sophie has taken to most of her foods. Also, Sophie is getting better at crawling. She's kinda lazy about it though. She's been army crawling for almost 2 months I suppose. About 2 weeks ago she took some of her first crawling steps. Yesterday she did a great job at crawling and trying to get up on things when her cousin was over. She must have been competing for attention. Then an hour or so later she pulled herself up, not straight up but up atleast. She's changing so fast and I'm just so excited for her. This summer will definately be a blast with her. I can't wait to take her to the beach... I'll just have to watch so she's not eating the sand :) Oh Sophie also cut her first top tooth the first of the month so now she has three teeth and the other top one is close behing the other.

Despite being very demanding for her mommy, she seems to be a very sweet mild mannered little girl. She does like her daddy too though. If he comes in during the work day she always gets all smiley and just stares at him until he leaves again. Well, here are a few pictures....

Sophie got to spend some quality time with her youngest cousin Josie almost 4 months. They too will be in the same grade in Cannon. Sophie really enjoyed playing with Josie, they seem to get along great together.

Gosh I love taking pictures of our little girl.. I sure hope we can keep it up for when we have more children. She'll get spoiled until then.

Well the last month and a half have been same old same old. Sophie had her 6m checkup, 96% for Head and Lenght and 75th for weight... She's going to be tall I'm sure. She's so close to crawling these days. She's on all fours a lot and has mastered army crawling the last 6 weeks. She can go any where this way.
I've been spending a lot of time pretty much just taking care of Sophie, cooking and maintaining the house.. I've also taken an interest in making my own baby food. It's really kinda fun.. I've also been cooking for Clinton, his brothers and dad for lunch a few days a week sometimes so that can occupy a little of my time too.
Clinton had his Bball tournament 2 weeks ago up in Hutchinson; they lost both games :/ He's looking forward to the summer too I think. He'll be starting softball up which will be a fun family filled activity for us. We also have a few weddings to go to this summer that will be a good time as well.

As for Easter, we had a family filled fun day. Church-Grandma and Grandpa Chris's then off to the my side of the family... Nelson get together. Next family get together I believe will be at Clinton and I's home for the 4th of July, probably not that day but around then. I'm so excited to throw a gathering here.. Horse shoes, a fire, maybe some badminton :)

These pictures of Sophie are from a few days before she was 6 months, it was such a cute little outfit, I had to put it on.
This picture was taken at a girlfriend of mine's baby shower... on the 9th. It goes Miley 2m, Catherine 4m, Addison 11 months and Sophie just over 6months. They all are so different but appreciate the time spent together :) very cute.
The above picture is of Sophie laying on a quilt given to her by Clinton's godmother Carolyn. It was made especially for her, what a lucky girl.

These Times I Will Miss....

Sophie was sitting and playing and somehow pulled her sock off. I checked on her and it was in her mouth. It was one of the cutest things she's done yet. Five years from now I'll look back and miss these times. She's so cute. She cut one tooth on the fifth and she's about a day away from cutting another. She hasn't been as fussy as I thought she would be. She does get upset easier and cries sometimes just because it hurts but we're doing ok. The oral gel doesn't seem to work as well as baby tylenol but I don't like giving that too often. She's still mommys girl though, and always want to be in my arms. I get most of the house chores done while she's sleeping.

I haven't posted for a while so hence the title. Nothing much has really gone on this month besides alumni bball tournament this past weekend. It was so much fun to see everyone this weekend from Clinton's graduating class. So many people came back, more than usual. Clintons team won two of three games on Saturday so for the first time ever they played on Sunday and won their first then lost the next game. It was the farthest their team has ever gone, woohoo! Clinton sprained his ankle so it is black and blue on the inner and outer sides of his ankle. This year it was his right ankle the last two it has been is left. I'm pretty sure both he and I have weak ankles. I'm starting to get the itch for spring, a couple nights ago with the rain it was a quite tease. Of course then that froze and became the coldest night of the winter :/ Sophie as usual with any baby is changing all the time. Mostly this month I've noticed her interest in interacting with me and becoming more and more of a little person and less baby. I think I will look back at this time when she is one and miss it. She's just such a snuggle bunny especially with me. She is 100% mommys girl but I'm sure that will change once she learns to appreciate her playtime with daddy. 4 Months!!!!

I don't have much to say but She's getting big. She is doing great and seems to be developming new skills and interests daily. She loves to grab the cats hair... and hold on. Mrs. Jones however, doesn't appreciate it so much though. She's learning to stay away pretty quick. Sophie is sitting up with assistance now. She can't stay up for too long because she loses balance and plop, that was that. Can't wait what this new month brings!!!

My sisters and I at Como Park!

My family and I went sledding up at Como Park the Saturday before Christmas. My Aunt and Uncle insisted that we have Sophie go on a little sled. Just as we parked and got out to see what we were going to do. I noticed Channel 5 news camera reporter had parked behind us and was getting his cameras out to tape sledders out and about that day. He video taped Sophie and they had it on the news at 6, 10 and apparently the next morning too. She's already a star ;)

Christmas 2007

This was Christmas at Clinton's parents house. We opened gifts there, had dinner and watched Nat. Lapoons Christmas Vacation. It was a very fun time.

This was Sophie opening her first Christmas present. She helped a lot more than I thought she would,.. of course enjoying the wrapping paper more than the gift.. :)

Clinton and I had a very wonderful and BUSY Christmas season. We had a total of 7 events we needed to go to over the course of four days. Sophie didn't hadn't all of the crazyness very well and two days after christmas she got sick. She's much better now but that was very nerve racking.

Clinton's brother Grant and his wife Tiffany had their first baby yesterday morning. Their daughter is named Josie Rose, 7lbs 30z 19.5 inches long. We're so happy and proud of them. She's adorable. I don't however have any pictures of my own yet because my camera needed new batteries :( She has lots of hair! Pictures to come soon!

I love this dress!!!!

Sophie Serene was baptized this weekend on December 9th. It was just beautiful... I couldn't have asked for a better baby, not a peep out of her. She was sleeping until they put the water on her, then she was awake and watching, very cute. Again, my mother in law made the dress for her. I couldn't have asked for or designed a more beautiful dress. It was so Sophie, pretty with pink!

Well our Christmas shopping is almost complete, only a few gifts left to buy. Thank goodness I started buying early this year. It makes the holiday season so much more less stressful. My sister and her husband will be in town for the holidays so we are looking forward to that. Clinton's sister Serene and husband Daryn will also be in town. So much to look forward too!

Well I just got Sophie weighed today. She is 14lbs. 3oz and 25 1/4 inches. She's doing great. We are so excited for this upcoming holiday season. I just decorated our tree today. It's so fun making our house festive! Sophie is being baptized this weekend and we are very excited about that. Cant' wait. That's about it, I wanted to give a quick update. Happy holidays!

Thanksgiving was a whole lot of food for our family. We went to the Sjoquist family gathering and my parents family gathering. We dressed Sophie up for the occasion which is always fun. Nothing much new with our family. Since a lot of our friends are home for Thanksgiving we got together with several. That was a nice change in pace for us. Sophie's Baptism is coming up Dec. 9th. We're looking forward to that. Clinton's mother Chris is going to make her a dress. It is going to be so beautiful, can't wait to see how it turns out. Sophie is getting more exciting by the day. Lately I'm just noticing how reactive she is to us, she "talks" more and more everyday. She's more amused by Clinton lately, I'm blaming it on the funny looking face. :) She has a hay day with him. "Hands"

Sophie has really been enjoying these lately and it's so much fun watching her play with them and bat at toys.

Sophie has started to enjoy the bumbo chair finally. Yes, I know there was a recall but only to warn people about putting it on elevated surfaces. I use it on our carpet for safety.

Sophie isn't a fan of tummy time but we're making progress. She isn't even crying here.... well not yet anyways.
Sophie looked so cute in her little pink Vikings outfit. I just love it. Anyways, there isn't too much new here with our family. I just started to christmas shop which has been so much fun with so many children in our family now. I feel like a kid again... almost. I can't wait to get our first "family" christmas tree. This year Sophie doesn't care much about it but next year we'll have fun getting her excited for it. I just got Sophie weighed today and she's 12 lb 13 oz. After her weigh in I got my flu shot for the year since it's recommended especially with lil Sophie.

2month Well Visit

Sophie had her 2 month well visit today. She weighs 12lbs 3oz and measures 23.5 inches. She is in the 75 - 90th percentiles for her measurements. She's a big girl. They also gave her 3 shots and an oral dose... Those were hard on me. She was startled then went full speed screaming. :( I think she's sore from them still her cries are different than usual.. Anyways the picture above is of Clinton holding Sophie she was just crying then Clinton put her pacifier in her mouth and her head literally dropped..... and she was out cold asleep! I've never seen anything like it. It looks like she could have touched her toes.

Halloween

We decided to take Sophie out for her first halloween. I bought a poodle costume online and dressed the little one up. There wasn't any candy for her but it was the best time to get around to introduce her to people who haven't seen her yet. We were able to make 8 of our 15 or so stops that we had wanted to but it was ok. It took 5 hours to visit 8 houses..... lot's of talk inbetween. She wasn't in the best of moods but Clinton showed off his "skills" by quieting her down... making him look like the master parent..... oh please, that's not how it is at home... She's a momma's girl. Anyways so here's some photos.

Sophie has discovered how useful her hands are this past week. She's using them to grab at toys now and even hold on. Sophie even brought the toy to her mouth for the first time last night but mom wasn't camera fast enough. She has seen her hands now too, stared at them but hasn't quite figured 'em out enough to really get to know them yet :) She's kinda plateaud in weight gain just under 12lbs at 11lbs 13oz. Of course she had her second diaper explosion on the way there, so maybe that was the explanation for the decreased weight gain. All in all Sophie is doing great. Changing absolutely every day. It may not be a whole new thing that she is doing but just progress on small developmental things. Lately she has really clung to me. She watches me so intently, I don't think I've ever been stared at more in my life. She watches me until I'm out of veiw and waits there with her eyes until I reappear. It's crazy how much my little lady has changed in just over 8 weeks now. She is almost 2 months now and will have her first set of shots this friday for her well visit. I wonder how much she has grown in length, I'm thinking a lot but who knows.

Godparents

Clinton and I are having his friend Nate Safe and his soon to be wife Alice Scharnweber be Sophie's godparents. In highschool Nate and Clinton were co-captains in football together. They also grew up going to the same church, Spring Garden Lutheran Church. We thought Alice and Nate would make agreat "godparenting team." Alice graduates from NDSU this fall and Nate will graduate this spring. He is an offensive tackle, I believe it's called, for NDSU Bison. As you can see they decked her out in Bison gear. I had to attach this pic of her smiling. That's gosh golly one big smile for the little lady! She's 7weeks and 1 day old.

Sophie's New Bedding

Okay so you can tell I'm a new mom. I think everything is shareable. Sophies Grandma Chris made her bedding and we just put in the new bumper today. It's so beautiful. I love it. It matches our wall border so much. I'm glad we waited for this last bedroom touch so we could "genderify" the bedding... It wouldn't be as cute to me if it were yellow and green.... I've had enough of that before she was born. Also Sophie got weighed today, she weighs 11lb 10oz at about 6.5 weeks. Soon she'll have her 2month well visit,... with shots :/ Time sure flies!

For those of you who don't have facebook... Here is Clinton and I just one week before bringing Sophie into our family. His shirt is hiding some of my belly though. I love this picture and plan on putting it in a Scrapbook for Sophie... another project that I want to accomplish!

It's not much but it's hard to catch her when she's giving her smiles. Sometimes I just like to enjoy them rather than rush for my camera so here is it. She smiles bigger but you'll have to wait to see them for when they flow more freely. Maybe we'll have to have my our nephew Luke come over, he always get's his little sister to go smile crazy.

Lutefisk Dinner

Well I got Clinton to go to a church Lutefisk Dinner yesterday. I dragged him there but he went. He even ate some. However, he decided he still didn't like it. Oh well. Sophie was great during the dinner, she just slept in her car seat. Nothing is really going on with our family. Sophie weighed 11lb 5oz this past Monday so I'm guessing she's atleast 11 and half pounds now, probably closer to 12. I attached one of my favorite pictures of Sophie. The one above is my absolute favorite so far.
